Afroz and I are stoked for the long weekend. We decided to take advantage of our time off from work and class (I'm taking a graphic design class, guys!). We'll be going on a road trip to Door County and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We've heard so much about how beautiful Door County is, especially in the Fall, so we're excited to take long walks and spend some time around the area. The last time I visited Milwaukee was in eighth grade, so I'm looking forward to checking out the Milwaukee Art Museum and other sites again. The weather is going to be fairly cold, but we're packing our sweaters and scarves and hope to make the best of our time together inshaAllah!
While I was getting my duffel bag packed for the trip, I realized I've never shared my skincare/makeup/beauty favorites on the blog. I always look to blogs and other online reviews to see what I should try next. I used to be someone who stayed away from makeup, but I realized I was extremely self-conscious of my dark under eye circles more than anything else. It's something I naturally have and it doesn't change with more sleep or water or anything of that sort. I use a serum that has helped reduce the darkness (see below), but I do use makeup to cover them up as well as any blemishes on the rest of my face. I try my best to use minimal makeup, because I prefer looking as natural as I possibly can.
My skin is fairly sensitive, so it took many trials of different products until I finally found those that didn't make my skin breakout. Like many women, I used to have and occasionally still have random cases of acne, so these are the products I use and have proven to work well on my combination dry/oily skin. Disclaimer: I'm not a pro at all (like AT ALL) with makeup and skincare, but I do hope my suggestions help you as other bloggers' suggestions have helped me.
From top left to right: Bare Minerals brush I use with my MAC Studio Fix powder foundation, Sephora bronzer brush, blush brush, liquid foundation brush, Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion, Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer, Chloe Perfume, Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion, Maybelline Mascara, Make-Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation, Make-Up Forever Concealer, Marc Jacobs Eyeliner, Sephora concealer brush, Bare Minerals blush, Bare Minerals mineral veil, Bare Minerals small powdered foundation brush, Bare Minerals brush I use for mineral veil, Too Faced bronzer, MAC Studio Fix powder foundation, Blistex Moisture Melt, EmerginC eye serum, Sephora eyelash curler.
A few products pop out to me as my all time favorites. The Bare Minerals Mineral Veil does a fantastic job of soaking up any oil that comes up throughout the day. I don't even reapply it and it works wonders on my t-zone. I also love the Blistex Moisture Melt lip protectant. I recently realized that my lips are sensitive to some lipstick brands and they also get chapped in the winter if I don't apply anything on my lips. The Moisture Melt works quickly to cure dry or chapped lips. It isn't too glossy and makes my lips feel healthy and soft. I also absolutely love the scent of my Chloe perfume. It's soft, but smells so refreshing. Lastly, I love the EmerginC Vitamin C Eye Serum. I've been using it every night for about a month now to reduce the darkness under my eyes. The serum basically reduces the swelling that causes dark circles to appear. I've already started to notice a difference!
I hope sharing some of my favorites will help you figure out what works best for you. I also hope you all have a wonderful long weekend break!
